Product Description

The Aquatec SWP-4000 solar submersible well pump is designed for home or livestock water needs in off-grid locations. It is a diaphragm pump, which means it is not as sensitive to dirt as other kinds of pumps. It is NSF approved for potable water use.

The Aquatec SWP-4000 is designed to operate from any 12 to 30 VDC power source, such as one or two 12 volt solar panels, or a 60 cell "grid tie" type solar panel. It will also operate from a 12 or 24 volt battery bank. To obtain maximum gallons per minute, use two 12 volt panels wired in "series" that provide a total of at least 110 watts. It's also OK to use solar panels that give more than 110 watts total.  More powerful solar panels will give better output in the morning, afternoon, and cloudy days when the sun is weaker.

You can run this pump direct from solar panels with no batteries, but in that case you should use an LCB Pump Controller. Either of the Shurflo pump controllers will work fine.

You can also run the pump from a battery bank if you need to run it at night. 12 volt operation will reduce the output and pressure by about half compared to 24 volt operation, but it will also greatly extend pump life. You don't need a pump controller for battery operation unless you are using a float switch in the receiving tank to shut off the pump when the tank is full. But be sure to put a 5 amp fuse in the circuit. You don't need a fuse if you are running direct from solar panels with no batteries.

The Aquatec SWP-4000 can pump up to 230 feet (elevation difference between the water surface and the receiving tank). The pump should be installed no deeper than 100 feet below the water's surface. You can install this pump in a 4 inch or larger well, or in a collection tank. It is not recommended to put the pump directly in a spring or stream, as too much debris could clog the stainless steel intake screen. However, since the pump is a "diaphragm" type, it will not be permanently damaged by clogging or dry running.

The Aquatec SWP-4000 has a rugged steel outer shell. For ease of wiring, it comes with a 36 inch cable pre-wired into the pump, which eliminates problems with the cable connection at the pump. Just connect the wires to a submersible pump cable with waterproof cable splices. The outlet tube is dual diameter which fits either 1/2 inch plastic tube (.50 ID) or 1/2 poly pipe (.62 ID).

The SWP-4000 is easily serviceable with normal hand tools. It should be pulled from the well and inspected for wear after two to four years. The part which are normally replaced are the diaphragm, valve assembly, and motor brushes. After several rebuilds the motor may need to be replaced.

The Aquatec Solar Submersible Pump is Made in USA. The warranty is 12 months from the date of purchase.
