Thad's Tip: The Shurflo Solar Water Pump is a "diaphragm" type pump, commonly used in off grid systems, which means it is not sensitive to dirt in the water. If dirt gets to the pump, it may clog something but it won't damage anything and it can be cleaned up with a toothbrush and some q-tips. 

To clean the intake water for Shurflo "surface" pumps such as the 2088 and 8000, use an inline filter, in Shurflo Accessories

To clean the filter on a Shurflo 9300 Solar Water Pump, just scrub it with a toothbrush and some soap or grease remover. You don't have to replace the filter unless it is torn or corroded.
